guys, don't worry, someone just sent me this pic...

Just got back from the Columbus show. While I'd love a longer FR set, I like that they were playing before Spinto Band because it meant that I got home at a decent hour. Decent crowd 100-150 and I'm guessing many if not most were there to see FR because when I left, a lot of other people left too.

Favorite part of the show was actually between songs when Scott said "How many of you saw us when we played at the Grog Shop?" Very light applause. From behind his drum kit, Grant said, "The Grog Shop is in Cleveland. We're in Columbus." Lots of laughter from the crowd and Scott sort of slapped his forehead and was like, "No wonder you didn't clap."

I'd love to tell you the setlist but I'm terrible with song titles. I don't spend anytime learning them so I can't tell you what songs they played but they closed with "Keep Yourself Warm" (I recorded it on my digital camera ... the bass blows out the speaker but it still turned out pretty average).

That's funny. I've been to the Grog Shop many times, good place to see a show. Had I been at home for this I would have gone...well, providing I had heard the album at the time they played.

"Someone"? Don't make me sue you, big guy.

Who is "pins"? Do I know "pins"? "Pins"?
Hewletts Daughter
i'm guessing Rabbits are on at like 945 or 10.

Either way, I'll be at the Gingerman at some point or another.

Pins is Yancy? I don't believe that. Yancy quit this board, preferring to chase his dragons elsewhere.

Pins, do you dig gay Swedish disco music?

The only way Yancy and I are alike is in our dislike for shorts. Down with shorts!

Alan, I think we crossed paths at, maybe a Jay Reatard show some time?
Pretty sure the exchange went, "oh, you're pins. and you're alan" and that was it.

Pretty sure the title Liver! Lung! FR! is the best description for the show tonight.

I am so sad that I couldn't make it to the Toronto show a few days ago. Please come back for a headlining set soon!

Agree with this. Even better, come to Peterborough. In either case, make it a headline set.

But January feels soooo far away. Now I'm just regretting not following them on their summer festival stint since I hadn't seen them since they were at the Empty Bottle nearly a year ago.

Good set, though I would have liked to hear some more Sings the Greys material sprinkled through the set. It was great seeing Bobzilla (thanks so much for the drink) and Simakos (that was some hug). Sorry I didn't get to say hi or meet anyone else. My girlfriend and I headed over to the SOMB contingent in the break, when everyone either left or headed over to the Gingerman.

Shocking and unfortunate that FR aren't the headliners. It nearly cleared out for Spinto Band, and we were talking to Billy who said that that's been happening almost every night so far.

Curious to hear about the rest of the night.
Bobzilla

I love these guys so much. Simakos says it better than I can, but Frightened Rabbit put so much heart into their playing. Even just 7-8 songs in a half hour are enough to put a smile on your face.

I thought Spinto Band were fun, hooky and tight. Much better live than on record. I only left because I was dragging. But yeah, lots of others had left prior to that.

I don't know whether it was alcohol, the loud talking or my FR singalongs, but my voice is nearly shot this morning. And there isn't enough honey to put into my tea.

Good to see a lot of the FR faithful out last night.
nagode
the better play on a weekend night in january otherwise heads are gonna roll...excuse the pun
SkinnyHips
what can i say that already hasn't been said. except for the fact that simakos and i are horrible pool players.

frightened rabbit 1, Somb 0

wait til january!
Hewletts Daughter
I really want to say more here but I think everyone summed up last night pretty well just by saying how great these guys are. Closing with 'Keep Yourself Warm' was unexpected and great. The guys sounded outstanding and were just as affable and awesome as ever. Scott's between song stage banter is as charming and weird as ever.

Really wish I didn't have to dart out of there so quickly last night, but I thought people'd migrated outside only to not see anyone, so I hit the bricks. Still, good seeing the SOMB-FR contingent out in full force. And good to meet WesSucks. I look forward to our next meeting in January.

And I really really am anticipating this show tonight in Madison. I'll be bringing two who've never seen the Rabbits (one of which has heard and loves them and the other doesn't even know what he's getting himself in to), so I'm pretty stoked to get them out there to see this amazing spectacle tonight. Looks like I'll be nothing but distracted all day by the thought of a night filled with more awesome musics.

awesome!

simakos
hummingbird, when i hug, i mean it. skinny, pool practice tomorrow morning... i'll bring the Gatorade. Bobzilla, sorry if Hewlett's and i were singing too loudly in your ear... we can't help ourselves.

Frightened Rabbit are a really good rock and roll band.
pins
Rabbits were great, as usual. Good to see/meet everyone. Simakos, I owe you a drink next time I see you.
Picked up the acoustic disc last night too, which I can't wait to listen to.

Hope Billy had a good birthday celebration, curious to know if Smart Bar happened, but no way I could've hung late.
Feel bad enough this morning as is.

I just have the 7" for it which is no help.

So their show on Friday in Madison was better than Thursday's Chicago show IMO if only because the High Noon Saloon is a pretty great venue. They played exactly the same set except for the addition of 'The Greys.'

After the show my roommate had a nice conversation with Scott about that hit NBC program Chuck (they're going to have another song of theirs on episode 7 I believe) as well as some internet-exclusive scene for Chuck (I believe) they are going to be in or something (I was sort of drifting in and out of the conversation at this point). I think anyone who has come in to contact with them ever has said it before, but I wanted to say it again...they are just the nicest dudes in the world to talk to. Just sweet, down to earth guys who seem genuinely happy with everything they've got and with their fans pestering them.

Oh, also they thought their next show in Chicago was on a Saturday night in January, but weren't entirely sure. A Friday or Saturday show would be nice.

b*derty
got the cd last week or so.
love it
weird size though.

can't help but love this album
